My trade part for :iconanka97:. She asked me to do a picture of her phoenix character Solaris and I was happy to oblige. I like Solaris' design (and his armors! xD ) a lot.

Ah, what should I say about this picture... I thought about doing my oldest trades first but lately I've been struggling with them so much that I wanted to work on something else. And at least I still feel confident about working on pictures of phoenixes even though I think I've lost most of the grip I used to have of bird anatomy. Oh well, my style is anyway far from realistic.

My first vision of this piece was quite far away from the result. Then I added there some flames. And a red sky. And then I messed around with the layers and layer styles (again) and the sky ended up looking like that. Not that I would mind, though.

Okay, that's enough with blabbering.

I finished this work from about the half-way with my new tablet and the first nib of the pen is quite well worn out... Oh gosh...

As always, I'm just in awe of your patience when it comes to both draw and colour feathers, so many lovely details to observe <3
And you are sure amazing at the anatomy of birds, looks actually perfect in my eyes!
Really lovely character with all the colours, armour and everything. You have done a great work with the colouring! :heart:

Awesome work; I love the wingspan here and you did a wonderful job on the armor. :) Gorgeous job with the lighting, too - I like how both the sun and the character's head are a focal point for the pic.

I'm reaaaally glad to know you like it! ^^ Solaris was such an awesome character to be drawn (phoenix + armour = :heart: )
Haha, maybe Solaris is a pyromaniac? xD Or maybe he just likes to watch the dance of flames (I at least like to)
