Creature: Whoooops! Sorry, wrong house..."
_ _ _
I don't know if any of my old watchers anymore remember Atla (and not remembering would be highly understandable), but here's - finally - my little kitty in a so-called proper artwork! 8) And hurrayyyy, he is redesigned so I have no use for his reference sheet anymore! 8))))) Though, the changes are after all not that big. Mostly I just bothered to study the anatomy of lions a bit more this time...

Anyhow, this started out as just a sketch since I just felt like sketching out Atla, altering his looks a bit. But eventually it got some linearts and colors to it and... Yeah. Not much more to say. The creature popping into to the pic is a member of species I sketched earlier this summer. Atla looking that angry obviously had to have a reason for it, and I thought I could as well use this new species here. Dunno, though, why he/she didn't just fly up there instead of climbing.
And never mind the background. I'm not sure what I was doing while painting the farthest rocks and they ended up looking really weird. Luckily the finishing touches with some layer styles made them look even a bit more decent. Didn't feel like painting them all over again either.

Now when I finally got my hands off this one I can concentrate on something quite likely less creative things to do...

This is amazing! The lighting is really beautiful and the expressions and poses are great!

I also really love Atla's feet for some reason :P

Wow the light there looks awesome. After your speedpaint I see how much work and patience you must put in your artwork. Very nice done!
Haha I just love the face of the creature down there. XD

At first I thought this was the Lion King.

... That might make quite an interesting remake, though.

Pur nauskis .

En mä värittämisessä ole kehittynyt, pelleileminen eri layer tyyleillä sen tekee :'D Niillä saa joskus näköjään ihan hauskoja valaistuksia ja värimuutoksia kuviin. Mutta danke danke kommentista! n___n

Wow, this looks awesome colored! :D Not sure if I remember Atla or not, but I love the anatomy. The lighting makes me think of noon and I really love the depth of coloring into the cave. :D I just don't have the words to describe how cool this looks!

I'd be just happy if you didn't remember him xD Though his old ref is still somewhere in my gallery, I think... And thanks a bunch! ^~^ Most of the lighting was purely accidental since I copied the whole picture on one layer and set it on top of the rest of the picture. I'm not too sure if you used Photoshop or GIMP (or something else), but at least in PS there's one layer style called "color burn" and set the copied layer as that. It gave a nice touch of that noon-like lighting to this. Messing around with layer styles seems to be quite useful at times x)

I use Gimp (since it's free) and I've honestly no idea how to use layers. :XD: I tried before and could just never get the hang of it.

Awww, thank you so much for your nice words! I may have my differing opinion about the background but it's good to know if it doesn't really look as weird as I thought :D
