This Is Gonna Hurt

You know those characters who just walk into your mind and call out 'Hiya, I by the way came to stay'??
Well, this guy is one of those. As like if I wouldn't have enough male/Dark Elf/insane characters already. Oh, well, you can never have too many Dark Elf characters :3 He's also to be blamed about the fact that I may have ended up buying myself a crossbow pistol, ahem... I needed a reference for his crossbow and happened to notice that there's actually some quite cheap ones in those. And then I found one in a local shop for sale. I couldn't resist :<
Okay, back to the character. It took me long enough to try to find his name and when I finally had it in my mind (after waking up one morning after seeing a dream where I ended up having a crossbow bolt in my head, thanks to him) I thought it's not really fitting for a Dark Elf. But apparently his name is Dale. Or at least that's what he's called as. I actually dare not to question him in case I'd have another bolt in my head some night again. _{Btw, he's actually first one of my OCs who's killed me in a dream O_o This must be the start of a beautiful friendsship!}

The base idea for him was to try to make him look kinda steampunk'd though I had really no idea what steampunk-styled clothes should look like. But apparently I succeeded in it somewhat since my brother asked if that guy was steampunk-styled. Or at least his hat is... Well, whatever x) He even managed to find himself a place in my story worlds and I was about to write more about it but maybe I'll leave it later or otherwise the amount of text in here would probably turn out to be something totally terrible (and apparently I anyway have to make some kind of a ref for him soon, so...)

So a few words about the picture itself. This basically is a test to see what I've learned in the year 2013 and what can I do with digital art if I'll give it enough time and patience (while consuming massive amounts of tea and listening to hours and hours of GREAT music _{[and turning my circadian rhythm into something absolutely terrible at the same time...]}). It truly took a lot of time. And especially patience. And hand cramps. It's just quite sad to think that this is probably the best piece of art I've done and it will never be even close of being in the top 10 of my most popular pics online 8D Oh well, I made it for myself and I'm darn happy about the result. That's all I asked for. _{Maybe I asked for cleaner shadings, though, but lets not get too picky.}
I was supposed to make a timelapse of this but decided not to when the recording of only the lineart-process was over 30GB on my hard drive. I'd have run out of space (and wouldn't have had space for all these new games I've got...)

I haz no idea if I was supposed to say anything more.
